Tips for Celebrating Thanksgiving with your Pup
The holiday season has begun, and you might be wondering how you can make Thanksgiving a low stress event for your family and furry friends. Our Dog Buzz experts share some tips and helpful information to help make your Thanksgiving holiday the best one yet!
If you plan to let your pooch share some of your Thanksgiving dinner, it’s important to know which foods on your plate are safe for dogs and which are not.
Safe foods include:
Green beans
Sweet potatoes
Carrots
Corn
Apples (without the seeds)
Cranberries (in small amounts)
Cucumber
Asparagus
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Turkey
A dog safe homemade treat!
These foods can be safely fed to your dog in small quantities and before seasonings and butter are added, but every dog is different, so make sure to keep an eye on how your dog is doing after they snack on fruits and/or vegetables.
Some foods to avoid are pies and desserts, especially those containing chocolate. It’s also not safe to give your dog turkey bones, gravy, and of course, alcohol.
Help your dog feel less stressed by providing them with a quiet, safe space or room away from the overwhelming noises and new sights of a Thanksgiving gathering.
Most importantly, have a safe, happy and warm Thanksgiving holiday!
